It is an affordable, excellent, well thought out product. Oh ya - and it's made in the USA.It's the best purchase I've made in quite some time.DL I was originally concerned with the shorter fence of the 1000SE, because a lot of my cut-offs are over 30", yet I didn't really want to spend the extra money on the version with the longer telescoping fence. It is great tool for the price and wish I had purchased it 10 years ago when I bought the saw. Glad I did. I almost bought the Incra v120 (gauge but no fence or stop), but then came across the 1000SE. For an additional $50 or so you are getting a great gauge fence and stop. Well by adding a simple MDF fence and then attaching the Shop Stop to the MDF I can easily adjust and cut off any length I need (I was concerned before ordering it, that the stop would not work on an extension fence, but it works perfectly).As far as I am concerned there is nothing else out there in a miter gauge for this price, with this quality.
If you are using with a small saw you may want to order the gauge without the fence. The good news is this gives me an excuse to purchase a larger table saw. My saw does not have the T-slot gauge so if I try to cut wide boards the gauge wants to come out of the slot. One drawback for me is that it is very heavy around the handle and with me trying to use this with a portable table saw it is really too big. Easy to assemble and calibrate. Nice gauge. Constructed very well and should serve many moons. Not the fault of the gauge, just my small table saw.
There seems to be about a 3 or 4 degree angle at the top of the fence. The metal fence does not sit at a 90 degree angle with the saw top. It makes me wonder if the produce is a factory second.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007UQ2EQ/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_img
The micro adjustment makes it easy to make fine adjustments for accurate angle cuts to any degree.And the fence extension is easy, handy, and fun to use. I am very pleased with the Incra Miter 1000SE Gauge Special Edition. Not only does the Special Edition have many excellent features put the price was an exceptional bargain and the delivery service outstanding.
came in excellent condition and was easy to assemble and adjust to my saw. miter gauge is very well built. I was realy impressed with the addition of replacement parts for the slide.
